POWERS Mr. Bernie Powers, age 48, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer. Bernie was actively involved with Boy Scouts of America, Byron Center Troop 250, and with the WATCH D.O.G.S. organization. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Carl Van Alstine. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 25 years, Tracy Powers; sons, Alexander and Kyle; parents, Eileen Powell, and John (Jan) Powers; brother and step-sister, Carl Powers, and Lynette (Gordon) Sanders; mother-in-law, Sandra Van Alstine; sisters-in-law, Ann (Eric) Smith, and Vicki (Scott) Kebler; nieces and nephews, Kelly, Ryan, Robert, Cameron (Emily), Ian, Randy, and Isabelle; great niece and nephew, Isabella, and Eli; and numerous other beloved family members.

A Celebration of Bernie's life will be Sunday, April 27, 2014 at 3 PM at the Rock of 1st Reformed Church of Byron Center. Relatives and friends may meet his family Friday from 6-8 PM at the Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center Chapel, 2067 84th St. SW, Byron Center. His family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcares.com.
