BUCK – Kathryn "Kitty" Kirn Buck, age 79 of Grandville, went to be with her Lord surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 27, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Rachael Kirn; her sister Nancy Hutchins and her in-laws Joseph and Evelyn Buck.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, of 60 years, Jim; her children Jim (Justine) Buck, Kim (Scott) Zandbergen, Tim (Christy) Buck, Kelli (Jack) Miller; 10 grandchildren, Lani (Wes) Goodrich, Dana Grace Buck, Karli (Brian) Sanders, Kandice (Patrick) Sloop, Demetrios, Katerina and Isabella Buck, Madeline, Joseph and Anna Miller; 8 great-grandchildren Ella, Wren and Annie James Goodrich, Sofie, Harper and Beckett Sanders, Adeline Sloop and Theodore Spillman; her sisters Rachael Herbst and Carolyn (Ron) Butters-Jenkins.
Kitty had a passion for swimming and "Miss Kitty" taught countless numbers of Grandville children swimming and lifesaving skills. Kitty served as an American Red Cross volunteer throughout her life. Kitty and Jim enjoyed many years as Senior Olympians in tennis and swimming; with Kitty earning a bronze national award in swimming. They also shared many cherished memories "Up North" with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 pm Thursday at the Grandville United Methodist Church, 3140 Wilson Ave, Grandville. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm at the Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW (East building) and one hour prior to services Thursday at church. The family welcomes memories and messages on their online guest book at www.cookcares. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or the Grandville Educational Foundation.
